Dunces in Public

A rogue’s gallery

Dunce hall of shameWait, where has this [brilliant/execrable[1]] stuff been hiding?

Wouldn’t you like to know? Not really, I suppose, but I will tell you anyway.

In a feverish fit of pique experienced back in the relatively bucolic fall of 2012, I reacted to my shock and disgust upon reading of the views of two members of our U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Science, Space and Technology by creating the first of what I imagined might be a monthly feature of Bachblog. I called this [exciting/insulting[2]] new series “Dunces in Public.”

Then in an all-too-rare moment of self-censorship, I flagged it “private.” Over the succeeding years I have occasionally experienced similar twitches, and I almost resurrected my [brilliant/execrable[3]] series at least three times. Once, in the case of America’s worst TV-pundit-cum-historian and noted dunce, I stripped the frothy post of its “duncification marks” and posted it publicly.

Today on October 28, 2019, throwing caution, civility, and self-censorship to the wind, I am making public these little [gems/turds[4]]. To which I say “[lucky/unlucky[5]] you!
