Crossword #8: Meet in the Middle

An odd can of bubblegumWe are finally getting some summer-like weather here in Minnesota. I know it is technically still spring, but Memorial Day weekend is a fine time for summer to arrive. My puzzle #8 does not have a summer theme, so I’m not sure why I am running on about the weather. It does have a breezy, bubble-gummy theme, though. Not something over-clever and winter-ish. Solvers need not have memorized nicknames for 200-year-old symphonies or anything like that.

Speaking of bubblegum, doesn’t the stuff in that can look tasty? That really is gum in a very odd, kitschy can. Meatball shaped and flavored gum is also available. Get ’em while they last!

Puzzle thumbnailThose of you scoring along at home might wonder, “What happened to puzzle #7?” All I can say is that it has gone missing. It may sit hopefully in a tall stack of paper somewhere. Notes

  1. The Across Lite program can be downloaded for free at Litsoft.com and runs on Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X. I can recommend it unreservedly. It is easy to install and use, and is free of any of the malware garbage that commonly plagues freeware.

I think crossword puzzles are best solved with paper and pen (or pencil for cautious types). But I can no longer use a pen, and so am very grateful the Across Lite program exists. [^]
