Crossword #12: Don't Eat That

Do not eat signLong time, no puzzle. I just don’t know what you managed to find to do with your summer. Now fall is here. Your baseball team has missed the postseason (again), season six of Game of Thrones won’t begin for months, and newscasts—when the Kardashians have the night off—are bloated with the natural gas that is Donald Trump. Now more than ever you need the diversion my puzzle is primed to supply.

You’re welcome.

This puzzle is another playful one. This is a high word count puzzle (78 words) and is Monday-ish in construction. If you find it more difficult than that, my cluing will be to blame. But I hope and believe that this will not be the case. There is no difficult vocabulary on the grid. Perhaps one word will be unfamiliar to those of you who have not read One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. (You will get the answer from easy-peasy crosses. No, really!)

PDF thumbnailThe four themed answers will need some crosses filled in before they can be solved, I’m sure. After one drops, the others will be much easier to see. (Trust me!)

  1. The Across Lite program can be downloaded for free at Litsoft.com and runs on Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X. I can recommend it unreservedly. It is easy to install and use, and is free of any of the malware garbage that commonly plagues freeware. [^]
