“Even the RCMP ...”
A drunken Canadian sings Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the back of an RCMP squad car. An instant classic. The Mounties can be heard laughing throughout his performance. At one point he drums loudly on the car window. When asked nicely to calm down a bit, he answers honestly, “I can’t.” Instead of beating him half to death with a truncheon, the Mounties just seem to shrug it off and enjoy the show.
This is six minutes of video and is worth watching to the end.
Highlights include:
- at about 3:30 into the video, he finishes an instrumental bridge before going into the “I saw a silhouette-oh of a man, got a mus…, got a mus… can you do the fandango? Thunderbolts and lightning…” part
- just after the 5:30 mark he departs from the lyrical script in a touching homage to the RCMP
- finally, just before the video ends, his response to the Mounties’s question, “Do I need to cuff you?” is brilliant.
