Musical Thank You #1: Richard Thompson
I am listening to Richard Thompson’s album Mock Tudor for maybe the 100th time. A shout out of thanks to Craig F who foisted this disc on me a decade ago or so.
Richard Thompson doesn’t get anywhere near the respect he deserves. I saw him open for Bob Dylan, Wilco and My Morning Jacket last summer live in St Paul where he played a very short set to a mostly indifferent crowd of late arrivals. He began his career at the age of 18 as the lead guitarist for the iconic English “electric folk” band Fairport Convention. Those unfamiliar with him should see his Wikipedia bio.
