Blowing Oil
More proof today that gasoline prices in this country are too low. As long as we are using these foul-smelling, noise-producing, gas-sucking Wendigos to blow leaves around, we are not paying enough for oil.
According to Wikipedia, leaf blowers were first developed in the 1950s, while nonoise.org dates the introduction of gasoline-powered leaf blowers in the U.S. to the 1970s. On the other hand, deciduous trees and their falling leaves have been around at least since the Cretaceous Period, 65 to 145 million years ago.
Let’s hope leaf blowers turn out to be a short-lived maladaption, destined for a relatively quick extinction.
